List of the fastest cryptocurrencies

One of the biggest complaints about Bitcoin (BTC) is how long it takes for transactions to be confirmed. On average, it takes about 40 minutes. A number of alternative cryptocurrencies have launched, though, which aim to reduce transaction confirmation time significantly. Here’s a look at them.

What’s the fastest cryptocurrency?

Right now, that honor belongs to Fastcoin (FST), which trades on Cryptsy.com.

Please keep in mind that transactions are almost all instantaneous, but they need confirmed (i.e. they need other miners to prove that a coin hasn’t been double-spent before the payment is accepted). The time to “confirm” a transaction varies based on blocktimes. The number of confirmations required for an altcoin isn’t set in stone, but generally determined by what a vendor deems acceptable. The list below is a guide based on real-world numbers released by Coins-e (a popular cryptocurrency exchange).

Obviously, you haven’t tested Supercoin, as it should be in the 1st or 2nd spot on your list…

    It’s SUPER fast…3 confirms / less than 60 seconds on average…

AND, Supercoin also has something called ‘Supersend'; it’s an anonymous option for making transactions…

Supercoin is going to shake things up in the altcoin world big time.
